      Smart Reading Video Tutorial for OrCam Read Smart

      This video and tutorial section will teach you how to use the Smart Reading feature.

      We recommend going through these video tutorials in the order presented, so you can learn to use your device as easily and quickly as possible. Start with 'Setup' and continue to 'Reading' and and so on. You will find at the end of each section the link to the next recommended video tutorials.

      Video 1: Smart Reading

      The Smart Reading feature is designed to help you find the information you are looking for using vocal commands. You can ask the device to read things like headlines, specific articles, dates, amounts or find specific words.

      Smart Reading Step by Step Guide:

      To activate this feature:

      1. Point the OrCam Read to the center of the page or between the pages of a book, holding it about 12 inches (30cm) from the text and at a 90 degree angle to the text. 
      2. Rapidly double press the trigger button and after the long beep say, “Smart Reading”. After 1-2 seconds the device will make a 'bell' sound and then make shutter sounds, followed by a series of beeps while it processes the picture. You can move your hand after you have heard the shutter sounds.
        • Alternatively, you can simply say: "Hey OrCam, Smart Reading". The device will then start making camera shutter sounds.
      3. After the device says, “Ready”, the device will always be listening. You don't need to rapidly double press the trigger button before every vocal command.
      4. Say a vocal command.
      5. If you wish to say a new command while the device is reading, press the trigger button once and the device will return to “Always Listening” mode.
      6. To exit this feature:
        • Say, “Exit” or
        • Long press the trigger button for 5 seconds and then release.
        OrCam Read will say, “Exiting” as it exits the Smart Reading feature.
