Setup Video 1: Unboxing
To get the video tutorial to play, click on the video image below.
Note: The appearance of the box you receive may differ from the box in the video, however, the content of the box will be the same.
We recommend you keep any of the items that you will not be using immediately, safely stored in the box.
Especially the very small items, such as:
- the 2 spare USB mini magnetic adaptor pieces. These are about the size of a fingernail, and are the small metal end tip of the USB charger. Your device will most likely come with one already inserted into the device, to make charging easier. (Check out below: Setup Video 3: Charging)
- the 3 additional magnetic mounts, to enable you to attach your OrCam MyEye to your own glasses frames. (Check out below: Setup Video 4: Connecting the Magnetic Mounts )
Below is an image that visually shows as a line drawing all the items that come in the MyEye box and includes a description of each.
Setup Video 2: Parts and Buttons

The power button is the circular button on the inner flat surface of the device, located towards the rounded end. You can feel a raised circular frame around this circular button.
As you move your fingers from the power button towards the back rounded end of the device, if you feel something protruding from the USB inlet, that means your device has come with the USB mini magnetic adaptor piece already inserted, and that you won't need to insert it yourself. This will make more sense when you watch Setup Video 3: Charging.
The eyelet loop, which is a thin firm metal wire loop, is behind this UBS outlet, on the edge of the rounded end, and needs to be gently pulled out using your fingernail, if you wish to use it.
Setup Video 3: Charging
To get the video tutorial to play, click on the video image below.
NOTE: Your OrCam MyEye may arrive with the mini magnetic piece already inserted. In this case, to charge, bring the smaller end of the charging cable towards the rounded end of the device, and the cable will magnetically attach to the already inserted mini magnetic piece. The mini magnetic piece remains inserted in the device.
The OrCam MyEye needs to be charged for at least 3 hours before first use. Subsequent charges take approximately 1 hour to charge from 0-100%
Setup Video 4: Connecting the Magnetic Mount
To get the video tutorial to play, click on the video image below.
The glasses you receive in the box have the magnetic mount already attached to the right arm of the glasses frame. You can immediately begin by using these for your OrCam MyEye.
If you are left-handed, or if your left eye is stronger, you may prefer to have the magnetic mount on the left arm of the glasses frame.
The instructions in the video guide you through how to attach the magnetic mount to your own glasses.
OrCam recommends using thicker frames to better support the device. Please avoid using eyeglasses with wire frames.
Setup Video 5: Power On/Off and Suspend
To get the video tutorial to play, click on the video image below.
NOTE: When the device has been powered off, in order to power it on, press the power button for about 2 seconds, until you hear a beep (the LED next to the power button will also light up, either green or orange/red). You can then remove your finger. You will hear another series of intermittent beeps, the LED will flash red now and again, until the device announces that it's ready.
To shut down the device, press the power button once and wait to hear the option 'Suspending. Press again to shut down.' Then press again if you want to shut down. The device will not shut down if you press the power button twice, in quick succession. You need to press once and wait for the instruction from the device.
The device will automatically enter the suspend mode after 3 minutes of inactivity and will automatically shut down after 3 hours of inactivity.
It is possible change the automatic suspend mode time via the MyEye Settings Menu, in the General Settings Menu. If this is something you would like to change, the easiest way to do this is by saying, 'Hey OrCam. Change the auto suspend time.' Wait a few seconds and follow the device instructions. This is something you will learn more about in the upcoming Settings Menu video tutorials.
Setup Video 6: Connecting to Bluetooth devices
To get the video tutorial to play, click on the video image below.
NOTE: There are a few ways to enter the Bluetooth settings on your OrCam device. The video explains the manual option and the vocal command option using the double tap.
The easiest way to get to the OrCam Bluetooth audio settings is to simply say, 'Hey OrCam. Connect to the Bluetooth audio device'. Wait a few seconds and follow the device instructions.
Setup Video 7: Charging and connecting to the OrCam Bluetooth earphones
To get the video tutorial to play, click on the video image below.
NOTE: When using the vocal command to connect to the earphones, if you find the double tap challenging, you can instead simply say, 'Hey OrCam. Connect to the Bluetooth Audio Device'. The 'Hey OrCam' vocal command can be used instead of the 'double tap' which is then followed by a long beep.
