OrCam Read is not connecting to WiFi

If your device still isn't connecting to the WiFi:

  • Make sure that:
    • The camera lens is clean and that nothing is covering it or the WiFi QR code.
    • The website is set to the language that matches the system language of the device. I.e. a French device would need the website to be set to the French language.
    • You are connected to a 2.4 Ghz WiFi network and not a 5 Ghz network.
      • If you are unsure if you have a 2.4 Ghz or a 5 Ghz network, please check on the back of your WiFi router. If you are still unsure please contact your internet provider.
    • The device is connected to the charger.
      • The device must also have a minimum of 50% charge.
    • The WiFi network is protected by a password.
      • This is only relevant for versions under 9.10. If your device already has version 9.10 the WiFi network does not need to be password protected.
      • If your network is protected by a password, please ensure that you have entered the network name and password correctly.
    • You are close to the WiFi router to ensure maximum signal strength.
    • The distance between the device and the computer screen is within 16 inches (40 cm), or  within 8 inches (20 cm) for smartphones.
    • The screen brightness is set to maximum.
  • Try to connect using a different web browser.
  • Try to connect through the mobile app if possible (available for iPhone only).
  • Try resetting the WiFi network’s router
    • Unplug the router from the electrical outlet and wait a minimum of 20 seconds until the router turns off completely. Then reconnect to the power source and wait until the router boots up - repeat this a minimum 3 times consecutively if necessary.

If the device says "Failed to read QR configuration":

  • This  means the camera did not read the QR code. Check the above mentioned requirements once more and note the following points.

    • Adjust the angle of your the device. Try to ensure that the device is 90 degrees to the QR code.

    • Keep your hand still.

    • Try using different devices, e.g: desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

    • Try 2-3 times.

If the device says "Failed to detect network":

  • This means the network name or password was not entered correctly .

If the device says “ WiFi connected but can not reach the internet”:

  • This means that the signal is too weak to connect to the internet.
    • Try resetting the WiFi network’s router
        • Unplug the router from the electrical outlet and wait a minimum of 20 seconds until the router turns off completely. Then reconnect to the power source and wait until the router boots up - repeat this a minimum 3 times consecutively if necessary.

  • If it is feasible, ask your internet provider to debug your connection.
